Today Christina, myself, and the Colors of Connection team are grieving the loss of our beloved team member, Nancy J. Rothenberg, who has served on our Board of Directors for the last year. Nancy had been fighting cancer over the last 20 months and she passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on August 26, 2014. Nancy brought an energy and enthusiasm to our team that was invaluable. As we have worked to grow our organization and implement projects in refugee camps in Burkina Faso, she advised, mentored, innovated and brought a new depth and breadth to our vision and work. She was tireless in her efforts to connect Colors of Connection with new advisors, directors and partners in order to take us to the next level in our development. Under her guidance we added Gail Kurtz as a Director and Pratt Cassity as an Advisor, whom we now rely heavily upon for their wise counsel. Her last contribution was to initiate a partnership with the University of Georgia School of Social Work and we are incredibly sad that she passed before she was able to see this become a reality. Nancy was a luminous presence that brought blessings to everyone and everything she encountered and we were so fortunate to have her as part of our team during the last year of her life. She has made a lasting contribution to Colors of Connection and we will never forget her.
